DC Power Jack Repair Service

If your DC power jack is having an intermittent connection or not working at all anymore, don't throw away your notebook. Don't order a new motherboard for a lot of $$$ either. This service can restore your notebook or tablet PC back to proper functionality for a fraction of the price!

Some symptoms of a bad DC power jack are:

• No power - will not turn on (dead), although the unit will still work if the battery is charged
• Unit randomly switching from AC to battery power and back
• Burning smell and / or smoke coming from the DC jack area
• Intermittent battery charging problems

Motherboard Repair vs. Replacement

If your motherboard only has a problem with the DC power jack, after we repair it, it will be as good as a new factory unit. We can make it even better by reinforcing the DC jack - this will make it even more reliable compared to new factory motherboards. We've been replacing DC jacks since 1995, so we know what we are talking about. We will replace your malfunctioning (loose, broken or worn) DC power jack with a brand new, original manufacturer (OEM) part. Because it's an original part, it is rated for 5,000 insertion / removal cycles. We don't use cheaper, poor quality (generic, aftermarket, knockoff, remanufactured, refurbished, etc.) parts because they typically fail after about 500 to 1,000 cycles - less than 6 months of normal use, then you may need to replace it again!

Pricing & Warranty

Service fee is $49 US for motherboards that have been extracted already or $171 US $126 US for fully assembled units. DC power jack is extra (if you need a new one). Before we replace the DC jack, we'll briefly inspect the unit to see if there are any other problems with it. Then we'll take the unit apart, extract the motherboard, remove your old / install a new DC power jack; put the unit back together and test it for proper functionality.

Our DC power jack repairs come with 90 days (3 months) warranty parts and labor included in the price. You can upgrade your warranty for your peace of mind to 180 days (6 months) for just $20 US extra.

You can also get a hardware tune-up service at a discounted price along with this service for only $20 US . It includes:

• Latest BIOS / Embedded Controller upgrade to fix known firmware bugs & provide support for new hardware and software
• Removal of dust and other debris from CPU cooling system to reduce operating temperature and prevent potential damage from overheating
• New thermal paste for CPU and video processor for improved thermal transfer and cooler running chips
• Application of thread locker (Loctite®) on screws to prevent them from getting loose and damaging your motherboard

Do It Yourself

If you have the time and skills to do it yourself, take a look at our DC power jacks selection. Please note: this procedure requires precision skills (taking the unit apart and putting it back together without damaging it in the process and most importantly good micro soldering techniques). Don't forget - your workspace and equipment must be ESD safe to prevent damage to the motherboard. It is not for the faint of heart!
