Exchange Program Information

This motherboard is available for EXCHANGE only - to order it, you MUST return your old motherboard (also called a "core") to us.  Please choose an exchange program that best suits your needs.

Advance Exchange Program - We ship a replacement motherboard to you first, and after receiving it, you ship your old one back to us.  Available only to customers from USA & Canada at this time.  Use shipping box from new motherboard to return the old one.  Free pre-paid return label is included at no extra charge (for USA orders only).   This program requires a deposit, which is refunded in full after we receive your old (core) motherboard.

Prior Return Exchange Program - You ship your old motherboard to us FIRST, and ONLY after receiving it, we ship you a replacement.  This program is selected by default.  If you want to use Advance Exchange instead, please select it from the pull-down menu above.

Please read the Exchange Program description very carefully to avoid any misunderstanding!

For your old (core) motherboard to qualify for exchange, it must be in good physical condition.  Specifically, it must NOT have:

• Visible corrosion (from a liquid spill) - (view example)
• Major physical damage (cracked or part of the board broken off) - (view example)

If you don't have an old (core) motherboard to use for exchange or you believe that your motherboard may not qualify, please Contact Us.  In some rare cases, we may have a replacement motherboard that can be sold without requiring the old one (core); however, the price will be higher than what is shown above.  Such orders are subject to approval due to limited availability.

It is strongly recommended that you know the exact motherboard part number prior to ordering a replacement.  The same notebook series can use several different (and incompatible) motherboards.  Whenever possible, prior to placing your order, locate your motherboard part number (view example) and then order that exact number.  If you are unable to locate your motherboard part number, but the unit was purchased in North America (USA or Canada), we can look it up based on the serial number of the unit.

The number from your motherboard MUST match one of the part numbers listed above.  If it doesn't match, DO NOT place an order!  Instead, search our website for the part number you located on your motherboard.  If you cannot find the part number on our website, please Contact Us and request a quote (provide your motherboard part number or the serial number of your unit - 22 digits starting with LX).

Note: this Exchange Program should NOT be used to upgrade the motherboard in your unit.  Upgrading a motherboard in notebooks is complicated and could get very expensive.  Even a motherboard from the same series / chassis may require additional parts such as heatsinks & fans.  It may also require a different casing, CPU, memory, hard drive, etc. to match the new motherboard.  Due to the complexity of the process, regretfully, we cannot provide technical support for such attempts.  Furthermore, your old (core) motherboard may not be accepted for exchange since it won't be the same as the new (upgrade) motherboard you select.

We strongly recommend that motherboards are removed & installed by a qualified person with prior computer hardware experience, using proper tools and ESD protection.

Advance Exchange

If you are located in USA (lower 48 states, AK, HI, PR & GU) or in Canada, you can take advantage of this program - it works as follows:

• Place an order for the replacement motherboard and pay a security deposit (refunded in full once we get your old motherboard back).
• We ship you a replacement motherboard.
• USA orders - when you receive the new (replacement) motherboard, the box will contain a pre-paid return shipping label.
• Canadian orders - please use your choice of courier service or Canada Post to ship it back to our Toronto, ON location at your expense.
• Place your old (core) motherboard in this box and ship it back to us.  Note that once it's shipped, it cannot be returned to you if you decide you want it back for some reason.
• Your deposit will be returned after we receive your old (core) motherboard and process it (typically within 5-10 business days).
• Processing for Canadian orders may be delayed if the ordered part is not available in our Toronto, ON location and has to be shipped from our Texas, USA warehouse instead.
• Orders with Advance Exchange originating outside of USA/Canada are not accepted at this time, but you are welcome to use Prior Return Exchange (see below).

Note: You must ship your old (defective) motherboard to us WITHIN 10 calendar days (after you receive your new motherboard) - so please don't risk losing your deposit by putting it off.  Write down the tracking number from the pre-paid return label (USA order) or the courier / Canada Post label (Canadian orders) and send it to us along with your name and order number via e-mail or fax - this will act as confirmation that you shipped it within the allotted time.

Prior Return Exchange

This program is available to customers worldwide, including USA and Canada.

• Place an order for the replacement motherboard.
• Extract the motherboard (if you haven't already) and remove parts that will not be shipped to us - see details below
• The extracted motherboard should be enclosed in an antistatic bag & shipped in a sturdy box with at least 2" (5cm) of padding material on each side.  Do NOT use a padded / bubble envelope alone!  It does not provide enough protection.
• Write your order number on the outside of the shipping box.
• Include a DETAILED problem description (example: dead - no power, no video, USB ports don't work, etc.)
• If you have it, provide additional information: under what circumstances the problem takes place, is it permanent or intermittent, etc.
• Prepare and ship your old (core) motherboard to us (shipping address is listed below).  Please note that shipping costs are your responsibility (we will not reimburse you for it).
• Once we receive your old motherboard, we'll inspect it to make sure it qualifies and ship out the new (replacement) motherboard, typically within 2-4 business days.
• If for some reason your old (core) motherboard does not qualify for exchange (which is extremely unlikely, but possible), we'll notify you and try to provide an alternative solution or cancel the order and refund your payment in full.  At that point, if you want your old (core) motherboard returned, we can ship it back at your expense.

Remove and keep the following parts.

• CPU / Processor (only if it's removable)
• CPU heatsink / fan
• RAM memory modules
• Modem, LAN and wireless (WiFi) cards
• Any other add on "daughter" boards such as video, USB, DC power / charger, etc.

Don't forget to take ESD (electrostatic discharge) precautions and store the parts in antistatic bags if possible.

DO NOT remove the following parts (leave them attached to the motherboard when you ship it)

• PC card (PCMCIA) socket
• CMOS / RTC battery (usually a coin type cell)
• Video card or chipset heatsink (except motherboard designs where it's combined with CPU heatsink)
• Any other parts that are soldered on
• Motherboard part number identification stickers (starting with LB or MB)
• Any insulation shield stickers (usually black, white or clear)

If you are not sure what to keep and what to include, don't worry!  Just follow the guidelines above.  If you forget something, we'll transfer it from your old (core) motherboard to your new (replacement) motherboard at no extra charge.

Cross border shipment warning: If you are shipping the motherboard from USA or any other country except Canada, you'll need to fill in a customs declaration form.  It's very important to complete it as shown below; otherwise brokerage fees (charged by the shipping company) may be added to the total price of your order.
